On 14 May 1877 R.D. Blackmore writes to Kate Freilingrath- Kroeker asking her opinion about the German and English writing style of a Miss Flack, whom he apparently is considering using to translate one of his books into German, and about his wife's ill health. On 20 May 1877 he discusses several literary matters, including the publication of his work in Germany, the magazine publication of two of his stories, "Frida" and "George Bowing," and apologizes for "these egotistic chronicles."
